It was a day like any other. The sun was shining outside and it was a typically warm Florida winter day. Sarah had the day off, and we were going to spend it together just relaxing. Maybe even go see a movie.
Until we tried to go out the front door. I unlocked the deadbolt, turned the door knob... and couldn't open the door! The knob turned, but the latch wouldn't clear the door frame. I pulled and pulled with all my might, but I still couldn't open the front door. We were trapped!
But wait! There might be a solution to our predicament! I quickly developed an alternate plan for escape: the side door! It had never been done before, but it just might work!
Cautiously, I approached the mysterious side door. I reached out a hand, grasped the door knob, said a little prayer, and turned my wrist. And the door swung open! We were free! We could come and go as we pleased! The side door was our salvation!
Little did we know the evil that we were about to unleash...
As we came and went through the side door, unbeknownst to us, we were disturbing a latent threat. Our innocent comings and goings had awakened the beasts, and the creatures would shortly make their presence known.
As Sarah and I sat innocently and unawares in our living room watching TV, I happened to glance up at the side door.
There seemed to be a peculiar, swirling black mass around the upper right corner of the door frame. "What could it be?" I thought to myself and glanced closer.
A chill ran up my spine. It was ants! Hundreds and hundreds of ants! Big ants! Ants with wings! "Oh my god!" I shouted. Then I saw the doorknob.
There were even more ants swarming there. "Oh my god!!" I shouted again as a shudder ran through my body.
But the horror wasn't over yet! I looked down at the ground where the doorframe met the floor. "OH MY GOD!!!" There were even more ants!! Thousands of ants!!
Swarming all over the door frame! Taking over the house! Ants! Ants!!!! ANTS!!!!!!!
They had to be stopped! But how? Bug spray! Of course! Armed with a can of insecticide, I faced the demons and showed them no mercy. It was them or us! I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed!
But they just kept coming! Under the door... around the doorframe... thousands of ants! We were doomed! Doomed! There was no stopping them!
But wait... maybe there was one last hope... one last ray of sunshine at the end of this nightmare. Returning with ammunition supplied by our apartment management team, I once again faced the demonic ants, this time armed with... ant poison!
I sprinkled the tantalizing poison pellets around the ants' lairs and just outside our door. Then we waited. At first, the poison seemed to have no effect. The ants seemed to be invincible.
But then, the poison started to work. Their tiny little ant bodies began to litter the floor around the door. There were still hundreds of them but, at long last, they no longer posed a threat to us. We had defeated the evil.
Slowly, our lives returned to normal. But even though the ants were vanquished, the nightmare of that horrible event would live with us forever.
The end
