Looking for an activity for one of our days off, Sarah and I decided to go explore Disney's Boardwalk resort. It was a good choice, too, because we had a delightful time.
Strolling the wooden sidewalk
along the water, we felt like we had been transported back to the heyday of the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
The atmosphere, the storefronts, the signage, the music, the boardwalk amusements all conveyed the carefree fun and lightheartedness of a bygone era.
Sarah and I enjoyed meandering along the boardwalk and seeing what the resort had to offer.
We were very impressed with the detail in theming. Even the pool had a Boardwalk theme with a rollercoaster slide through a clown's mouth and the "Diving Horse" snack bar (a show with an actual diving horse was a popular old Boardwalk attraction).
Walking around was not our only way of exploring the resort.
One of the amusements the Boardwalk had to offer was a Surrey bike rental. A Surrey bike has two seats sitting side-by-side, pedals for both passengers, and a shady roof covering.
Sarah and I climbed aboard our bike and pedaled our way around the lake. The path is a complete loop which allowed us to bike to the resorts on the opposite side of the lake for a long distance view of the Boardwalk.
Our bike ride was invigorating, the wind refreshing us as we pedaled up and down hills and around the lake. Sarah and I love finding novel, unique things to do together,
and this was another treasured experience. Our whole time spent at the Boardwalk together was wonderful and amusing.
One of the reasons that Sarah and I love living in Orlando so much is because there are always fun and interesting things to see and do. The numerous theme parks and resorts and tourist attractions provide plenty of entertainment opportunities. Our time exploring Disney's Boardwalk was just another example of the fun to be found here.
