Bowling Party
Just before we left Williamsburg, our friends, the Robertsons, threw a birthday party for their son Matthew. Matthew blows out his candles. They invited us to join them for the festivities at a local bowling alley.

I met Matthew's mom, Mary, when I worked at Busch Gardens 15 years ago, and we managed to stay in touch throughout my Circus career. Matthew enjoys his cake. It was a treat to find a familiar face when I returned to the park after so many years away.

We had a good time at the party. The birthday boy, Matthew, especially had a wonderful time. Fireman Matthew. He had two cakes, and he enjoyed eating the cake without using his hands (quite a sight to see)! He had a visit from a real fireman and got to try on a real fireman's uniform (very heavy... and smelled of smoke). Sarah and I also donned fireman's garb!

Fireman David Sarah's fire hat was too tight!
It had been a long, long time since Sarah is ready to bowl. either Sarah and I had been bowling... and this was our first time ever bowling together. We had a lot of fun, Sarah scores. even if we didn't score high. Sarah got a strike her first time up... and rapidly deteriorated from there. I never quite got my game on, and, by the end, David's professional bowling technique. both Sarah and I were bowling with the gutter bumpers up and rolling the ball underhanded from between our knees! It really did nothing to help our scores though.

Sarah & Matthew. Despite our low scores, we had a lot of fun, and it was a nice chance to spend some final time with the Robertsons who had befriended us and always made us feel like we were part of their family.
