Every year, the Orlando Science Center sponsors a Pet Fair with animal demonstrations, training sessions, pet gifts, carnival rides and food. It sounded like fun, and Sarah and I decided to check it out.
It was a beautiful, sunny day, and an ideal day for an outdoor activity. It was also an ideal day for taking your pet out, and Sarah and I found ourselves surrounded by dogs of all shapes and sizes and breeds.
|
We had a lot of fun seeing all of the differents dogs... almost as much fun, it seemed, as the dogs had seeing each other. And dogs weren't the only
animals at the fair. We also saw cats, a snake, some prairie dogs, skunks, chinchillas, and someone even brought their pet monkey.
We wondered how our cats, Monkey and Maccabee, might have enjoyed the Pet Fair... undoubtedly, being out in the big wide world would have terrified them.

Sarah and I were content just seeing all of the various animals that were at the Fair, but there was other entertainment as well. Arabian Nights Dinner Theatre presented a trick riding horse demonstration.

There was a small petting zoo (very small) with a sheep, a pig, and a cow and her calf. We also saw a cute Bird Show with parrots that talked and performed tricks.
|
Animals weren't the only entertainment. A couple of local school choirs sang, and a dance studio put on a performance.
As Sarah and I sat on the ground watching the dancers, a couple of European pit bull puppies decided I was their new best friend. One sat in between my legs and watched the dancers with me, and the other, even smaller one curled up in my lap and went to sleep. They were adorable, and the highlight of my day at the Pet Fair.
