Stitch's Great Escape! is a new attraction at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Actually, it's a revamping and updating of the old Alien Encounter attraction with characters from the Disney film Lilo & Stitch.
|
The attraction is a prequel to the events of the movie. According to Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty in the Disney Monitor Newsletter, "the action takes place at the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport Center. Stitch (then known as "Experiment 626") seems so harmless,
he is left alone with the "Security Recruits" (that's us, the Guests). Big mistake. Stitch bounces all over the chamber, talking to us individually, spitting to confuse DNA-tracking plasma cannons and having the time of his anarchic life."

As Walt Disney World Annual Passholders, Sarah and I were entitled to a preview of Stitch's Great Escape before it officially opened to the public. One evening after Sarah was finished with work, we went over to The Magic Kingdom to check out the new attraction.

I had a lot of fun. I thought Stitch's Great Escape was an improvement over the original Alien Encounter attraction. Stitch is a delightful character, and his sense of humor and fun are a welcome addition to this previously frightening attraction. The animatronic of Stitch is amazing and lifelike,
and he was a delight to see up close and in action.
It's a treat to see a new attraction at Walt Disney World. We have been to the theme park so many times, it is nice to have something new to look forward to seeing.
